About me

My Story
I live in North Somerset with my husband, two of my three children (with one now grown up), our cats, and our very loveable beagle.

I qualified as a midwife in 2002, and it didn’t take long for me to discover a real passion for breastfeeding and supporting families with all aspects of feeding. I’ve always felt it’s such a privilege to be part of that journey.

In 2012, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and since then I’ve had the joy of supporting families through all kinds of feeding experiences, celebrating the wins and gently working through the challenges together. I recertified in 2022, and remain committed to offering thoughtful, up to date, evidence based care.

I also enjoy speaking at study days and conferences both in the UK and internationally, and contributing to podcasts, sharing evidence based knowledge and supporting wider conversations around infant feeding.

I love connecting with parents and professionals on social media, mainly Facebook and Instagram, sharing practical tips, encouragement, and support with a large, engaged community.

In August 2023, I published my first book on breastfeeding, which has been warmly received and become a valued resource for many families.

More recently, I’ve opened a lovely clinic space in Backwell, “That Baby Place,” with my wonderful colleague Josie Routley IBCLC, where we are able to offer in-person support in a calm, welcoming environment.
My Philosophy
I believe every family deserves the information, support, and guidance they need to breastfeed enjoyably for as long as they choose. I am completely non-judgemental and work with you as an individual, respecting your unique journey. My gentle ethos shapes everything I do and guides the care I provide.
I practice neuro-affirming care and am a proud LGBTQIA+ ally. I am proudly anti racist. Equity and inclusivity are central to my approach in all aspects of my work.
I am committed to continual learning and reflection, always striving to provide the best, most thoughtful support possible.

Why hire an IBCLC?
An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is a professional breastfeeding specialist. They have earned this highest-level qualification through extensive study, practical experience, and rigorous examinations. This credential is recognised internationally.
IBCLCs adhere to a strict code of conduct and professional standards, and are fully insured, giving you confidence in the care you receive.
When you choose to work with an IBCLC, you can be assured of expert, evidence-based support—helping you achieve your goals and get the most from your breastfeeding journey.

Kind words from parents I have supported
Lucy has given me amazing ongoing support. Regularly checking my progress and giving great advice to help make informed decisions. Plus, she's just so lovely!
Lucy was brilliant, her lovely nature and expert knowledge was exactly what I needed
Kat
The service she offers is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend to anyone who is struggling with feeding or just needs a little extra help and support
Alex
'Lucy is kind, compassionate and incredibly knowledgable. I felt listened to and supported at a time when I was struggling and very worried.
Both at the consultation and afterwards Lucy gave me the advice and confidence that I needed to persevere. My little boy immediately started to gain weight and everything became easier. Without Lucy I may not have managed to continue breastfeeding. Amazing service! Cannot recommend highly enough!'
